Content Policy
Last updated: Oct 24, 2025
At TailoredRead, we're committed to creating safe, useful, and educational books. We follow ethical guidelines, AI provider policies, and legal requirements to protect our users. We restrict certain types of content to prevent harmful or inaccurate advice.
Prohibited Content: Always Blocked
We don't create books that include or promote any of the following content, as it's unethical, illegal, or potentially harmful:
- Hate, harassment, or extremist propaganda
- Violence, graphic injury, encouragement of self-harm, or promotion of eating disorders
- Illegal activity or instructions for wrongdoing (e.g., fraud, hacking, compromising critical infrastructure, academic dishonesty, copyright violations)
- Weapons and explosives: instructions for creating, modifying, or obtaining weapons or explosive devices
- Sexual content or pornography (including any content involving minors, grooming, or exposing minors to inappropriate content)
- Promotion of illicit drugs or instructions to create, obtain, or use controlled substances
- Gambling picks or instructions to evade gambling rules
- Election campaigning, voting advice, or content designed to mislead voters or suppress voter participation
- Content intended to deceive or manipulate readers, impersonate others, abuse personal data, or enable surveillance misuse
- Criminal justice determinations, law enforcement surveillance applications, or biometric profiling without consent
High-Risk Content: Educational Only, No Personal Advice
Topics like health, legal, and finance require professional licenses and specialized knowledge. Advice in these areas can have serious personal or business consequences. You can create books on these high-risk topics, but they'll only contain general educational content—never personalized advice, specific recommendations, or guaranteed outcomes.
Here are examples of the types of content your books may include and what they won't:
Health & Medical
- May include: Explaining what hypertension is, how clinical trials work, common lifestyle factors linked to heart health, history of vaccines, general wellness topics (sleep basics, exercise benefits)
- Won't include: Diagnosing conditions, dosage or treatment instructions, personalized treatment plans, "what you should take/do for your symptoms"
Mental Health & Psychology
- May include: Overviews of CBT concepts, stress-management techniques, psychology of habits
- Won't include: Therapy or counseling for your specific situation, crisis intervention, or replacing a clinician's care
Finance, Investing & Insurance
- May include: How index funds work, risk vs. return concepts, what insurance terms mean, history of bear markets
- Won't include: "Which stock/crypto to buy," personalized asset allocation or tax strategies, "how to profit this month," choosing a specific policy for you
Law & Compliance
- May include: What a contract is, high-level overviews of legal systems, common court roles and procedures, regulatory history
- Won't include: Interpreting laws for your situation, "how to sue/file/defend," drafting legal strategy, compliance decisions for your business
Employment, Housing, Exams & Admissions
- May include: Job-search skills, interview preparation, home-buying concepts, study strategies, how admissions processes work
- Won't include: Discriminatory hiring or housing practices, exam cheating methods, falsifying credentials, guaranteed outcomes
Need Personal Advice on High-Risk Topics?
For the high-risk topics above (health, mental health, finance, legal, employment, housing, exams, and admissions), we provide general educational knowledge only. If you need personalized guidance in these areas, consult a licensed professional such as a doctor, lawyer, financial advisor, or therapist.
How We Enforce This Policy
For prohibited content, we identify it during the book draft creation process. If your draft contains prohibited content, you'll receive an error message and won't be able to preview or create your book. To create a book, you'll need to revise your draft and remove any prohibited content.
For high-risk topics, you can create a book with general educational content. The book will automatically exclude any personalized advice, specific recommendations, or guaranteed outcomes—even if you specifically request them. This ensures all content meets professional and ethical standards.
We also detect and block attempts to manipulate our system, bypass content moderation, or use deceptive tactics. If we identify potential abuse, we may review your account and take appropriate action.
Disclaimers and Limitations
Our books are created using AI and may contain errors or inaccuracies. The content is for general learning only—it's not professional advice for medical, legal, financial, or psychological matters. Always consult qualified professionals before making important decisions.
We can't guarantee that everything in our books is accurate or complete. You use our books at your own risk, and our liability is limited to what you paid for the book (if anything).
If you have a non-personal license and choose to edit, share, or publish the content, you take full responsibility for how it's used. We're not liable for any issues that arise from your use, sharing, or publishing of the book. Review the content carefully and follow all relevant laws and regulations.
Please see the full disclaimer in your book, and refer to our Terms of Service for details.
Questions or Appeals
If we blocked something you believe should be allowed as general education, try rephrasing your request using terms like "overview," "fundamentals," "history," or "common approaches." You can also contact us. We continuously improve our policy and tools to support high-quality, safe educational books.
We appreciate your understanding as we work to provide valuable, responsible content within the boundaries of our AI capabilities and ethical guidelines.
