Most people who buy the Author license are not chasing a bestseller. They want a well-organized book on their subject that they own outright: a consultant packaging a method, a trainer writing the manual for a program, a founder putting the company's thinking on paper, an expert who wants the book they never had time to write. The manuscript is the starting point. The editing is where it becomes theirs.
Editing happens outside TailoredRead, in a file you control:
- Open the finished book in Your Library and download the Word document.
- Open it in Microsoft Word or Google Docs. Every heading uses a real heading style, so the file behaves.
- On the title page, replace the TailoredRead byline with your name. Edit the cover page and the credits page if you want to.
- Add your stories, examples, data, and phrasing. Cut what you do not need. Reorder chapters freely.
- Save it, export a PDF if you need one, and use it however the license allows.
Today the delivered files carry the TailoredRead byline until you change it in Word. An option to set the author name before the book is generated is in the works, so the files arrive with your name already on them. Until then, the Word file is the source of truth for authorship, and changing it takes a couple of minutes.

Publishing is your call
The Author license includes the right to publish and sell, and some authors do: on Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing, on Gumroad, or from their own site. Many more keep the book for their own use, hand it to clients, or use it as the textbook for a course they charge for. Any of those is fine under the license.
What TailoredRead does not do is publish, print, distribute, market, or sell the book for you, and it takes no royalties. You choose the platform, set the price, and keep what you earn. If you only need to share the book for free and never sell it, the Commercial license ($39.99) covers editing and sharing at a lower price. What the Author license does not include
- An editing, proofreading, or cover design service. You get the files and the rights, and the polishing is yours or your editor's.
- An ISBN, copyright registration, or any publishing paperwork.
- Photographs or drawn illustrations. Books can include tables, checklists, and similar figures where the subject calls for them, plus the AI-generated cover.
- A guarantee of accuracy. The text is AI-generated, so check every fact and figure you plan to keep.
- Fiction, memoir written from your life, or books in languages other than English.
- Voice matching. The book is written for the reader you describe, not in a style learned from your own writing.
One payment, not a subscription
Most AI book tools are priced as a monthly subscription for people who plan to publish a catalog. TailoredRead charges $49.99 once, for one book, with the outline free before you decide. If you want a second book, you pay for the second book. If you never come back, nothing renews.

Questions authors ask
Can I put my name on the book?
Yes. The delivered files carry the TailoredRead byline on the cover and title page. With the Author or Commercial license you download the Word file, replace the byline with your name, and edit the cover page and credits. That Word file is what you publish or share. An option to set the author name before the book is generated is in the works.
Can I sell the book or publish it under my name?
Yes, with the Author license ($49.99). You get full rights to edit, publish, and sell the book. TailoredRead takes no royalties and does not require attribution. Publishing, printing, and distribution are yours to arrange with the platform of your choice.
Do I have to credit TailoredRead?
No. With the Author or Commercial license you can remove all TailoredRead attribution when you edit the Word file and present the book as your own.
Is the license per book or per account?
Per book. Each purchase covers one book. Buying the Author license on one book does not change the rights on another, and there is no subscription.
Can I edit the book inside TailoredRead?
No. Editing happens in Microsoft Word or Google Docs on the Word file you download. There is no in-app editor. The Markdown download works the same way for people who prefer a plain-text editor.
Can TailoredRead work from a manuscript or notes I already have?
Not today. TailoredRead writes a new book from your subject, the reader you describe, your goals, and the topics you list. It does not ingest an existing draft, transcript, or document.
Will the book sound like me?
It will read as clear, well-organized nonfiction on your subject, written for the reader you described. It does not learn your voice from writing samples. Most authors add their own stories, examples, and phrasing in the Word file, which is also where the book becomes theirs in the eyes of a reader.
How long is the book, and what if I only want a short one?
You choose the length before you pay: Short (30-50 pages), Essential (70-100), Detailed (150-200), or Comprehensive (250-300). The price of the Author license is the same at every length.
