Why use an AI report generator

TailoredRead plans the report structure and writes a complete first draft. You get the document in about 10 minutes, download it as Word, and add the data, examples, and judgment calls that only you can supply.

A complete first draft, not a blank page

You describe the subject, the reader, and the goals. The creator plans the sections, writes each one in full, and delivers a document you can read end to end. The hardest part of a report, deciding what goes where, is done before you open Word.

Your data goes in after download

The Commercial license includes a Word (.docx) download. Paste in your charts, tables, survey results, and internal numbers, then change any sentence you want. Editing happens in Word or Google Docs, not inside TailoredRead.

Preview the plan for free

Before you pay, you see the proposed title, description, and full table of contents. If the outline is missing a section your reader expects, adjust your topics and try again. You only pay once the plan looks right.

Here is the honest version of what happens. The creator is good at the parts of a report that follow conventions: an executive summary, a methodology section, a findings section, and a conclusion that ties back to the opening question. It writes from general knowledge of the subject. It has no access to your customers, sales numbers, or internal results. AI-generated figures can look plausible and still be wrong, so replace or verify every number before using the report.

TailoredRead supplies the structure and draft text. You remain responsible for the evidence. Every draft is AI-generated, so treat factual claims as things to verify rather than things to trust.

Business reports

These three report types are starting points. Each card opens the creator with a subject, a reader, and a list of sections already filled in. Change anything before you preview the outline.

Market overview report

A structured look at one industry: market size and growth, the main trends, the competitive landscape, key players, and the opportunities and threats that follow. Useful for investors, executives, and strategic planning.

Create this report

Solution brief

A product or service brief that explains what a solution does, what it is good for, and what it takes to adopt it. Written for the decision-maker who has to approve it, so it covers capabilities, benefits, use cases, and requirements.

Create this report

Internal business report

A quarterly review, project summary, or departmental update in a shape stakeholders recognize: performance, achievements, challenges, next-quarter goals, and recommendations. You replace the placeholder metrics with your own.

Create this report

The Short length is estimated at 30-50 pages. If you need a narrower document, remove sections from the topic list before you preview. For a broader subject, choose Essential (70-100 pages).

Two inputs give the generator more context. First, describe the reader precisely. "A CFO who has not followed this industry" produces a different report than "an analyst who covers it daily." Second, list the exact sections you want as topics. The creator treats your topics as the spine of the document, so a clear list gives you a clear report.

Whitepapers

A whitepaper is a report with an argument. It takes a position, supports it, and leaves the reader with a clear idea of what to do. The same creator that writes reports writes whitepapers, and the difference is mostly in how you brief it.

Business whitepaper

The classic problem and solution format. It names an industry problem, shows what it costs, reviews the usual approaches, and presents a framework for solving it. Common in B2B marketing and thought leadership.

Create this whitepaper

Technical whitepaper

An in-depth text explanation of an architecture, methodology, or technology for engineers and technical decision-makers. It can include code samples and integration notes where the subject calls for them.

Create this whitepaper

Policy and thought leadership whitepaper

A position paper that lays out the context, the options, and a recommended direction on a policy question or an emerging practice. Suited to consultancies, associations, and leaders who want to shape a conversation.

Create this whitepaper

How to brief a whitepaper

Put the position in the subject line. "Whitepaper on data governance" gives the creator nothing to argue. "Why mid-size banks should centralize data governance before 2028" gives it a thesis, an audience, and a deadline, and the resulting draft reads like it was written on purpose. Then use the goals field to say what the reader should believe or do after finishing. That single sentence shapes the conclusion.

Whitepapers often need evidence you already own: benchmark results, customer data, screenshots of a product. None of that is in the draft. Download the Word file, drop your evidence into the sections where the draft points to it, and replace the general examples with yours. The draft can include lists and code samples where the subject calls for them. Add tables, charts, and other evidence to the Word file yourself.

Sharing the finished whitepaper

The Commercial license lets you remove the TailoredRead attribution, put your own name and company on the document in the Word file, and share it freely with prospects, clients, and employees. A gated download on your website, a handout at a conference, or an attachment in a sales email are all covered. What the Commercial license does not cover is selling the whitepaper itself, and for that you would need the Author license.

Research and industry reports

Commissioned research reports are expensive because someone has to collect the data and someone has to write it up. TailoredRead handles the second part. If you already have the data, or you are producing a background report that relies on published knowledge, you can skip the writing cost entirely.

Market research report

A market study with an overview, industry trends, the competitive picture, and where the opportunities are. It gives you the frame and the general background. Your survey results and sizing data go in afterward.

Create this report

Competitive analysis report

A landscape and positioning report: who the main players are, how they position themselves, where they are strong, and where the gaps are. You add the pricing, feature, and share data you have collected.

Create this report

Trend report

An industry outlook that explains the forces changing a field, the patterns already visible, and what they are likely to mean over the next few years. Good for annual outlook pieces and strategy offsites.

What the draft can and cannot contain

The draft contains the frame: objectives, a methodology section written the way a research report would describe it, findings organized by theme, and recommendations that follow from those findings. It also contains general background on the industry, drawn from what is widely known about it. It does not contain fresh primary research, current market-size figures you can cite, or citations to specific sources. If a number appears in the draft, check it before it goes near a client.

For an industry report meant to be published under your brand, the workflow that works is simple. Create the draft, read it once as your target reader would, then open the Word file and go section by section. Replace general statements with your survey results, add the charts you have built, and cite the sources you actually used. The structure and the connective writing stay. The evidence becomes yours. For any report that will inform an investment or a major business decision, get an independent professional review of the final document.

Internal research reports

Not every research report is for publication. Strategic assessments, user research write-ups, and pre-reads for a leadership offsite all benefit from the same treatment. For those, the Word download is the main deliverable, and the online reader and PDF are handy for people who just want to read it on a phone before the meeting.

Executive summaries and case studies

Not every document needs to be a full report. The Short length, 30-50 pages, can be structured as a standalone executive summary or as a case study framework, and both are quick to finish in Word.

An executive summary is a document that leads with the answer. Put the decision you are recommending in the subject, name the executive who will read it, and the creator writes a document that opens with the recommendation, backs it with context and findings, walks through the options that were considered, and ends with concrete next steps. It reads well on its own and also works as the front section of a longer report you assemble later.

A case study follows a challenge, solution, results shape. The draft gives you that framework: a customer profile, the situation before, what was done and how, and the results with the metrics a reader would expect to see. What the draft cannot give you is the customer's own words or the real before-and-after numbers. Those come from your interview and your data, and you add them in Word. The finished case study is yours to share with prospects under the Commercial license.

Executive summary

A short document that leads with the recommendation, then gives the context, the key findings, the options considered, and the next steps. Written for a reader who will decide after one sitting.

Create this document

Case study framework

A challenge, solution, results structure with a customer profile, the situation before, what was done, and how success was measured. Add your real customer quotes and numbers in Word.
