How do I send a book to a Kindle app or device?
Sending a book to your Kindle is a manual step — it isn't automatic after purchase. You download the PDF from your library and upload it to Amazon's Send to Kindle page yourself; Amazon then delivers it to your Kindle app or device.
Here's the flow:
- Open the book from Your Library.
- Press the ⋮ menu button in the top-right corner.
- Select Send to Kindle.
- On the dialog that opens, download the PDF, pick your Amazon region, then open your Amazon Send to Kindle page.
- On Amazon's page, press Select files (or Select files from device), pick the downloaded PDF, and press Send.
That uploads the book to Amazon under your account. Within a minute or two it syncs to every device signed in to that Amazon account — Kindle e-readers, Kindle Fire, and the Kindle app on phone, tablet, or computer.
A few things to know:
- You need to be signed in on Amazon with the account tied to your Kindle.
- If you use
amazon.co.uk,amazon.ca,amazon.de, or another regional site, pick that region in step 4 to land on the matching Send to Kindle page. - Once the PDF is in your Kindle library, the Kindle app's own features (font size, highlights, syncing your page) work on it normally.
